Food on Foot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax-ID#31-1581053) dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.

Food on Foot operates a weekly meal program every Sunday in Hollywood. Food on Foot began in March 1996 as one man's response to the hunger he witnessed among the poor and homeless of Hollywood. What initially began as the distribution of meals from the trunk of a car has grown through the dedication of its volunteers and now serves more than 500 meals each week to homeless, disabled, elderly and low-income adults and children. more about us »

How Can I Help Food on Foot?

Donate - Send a check or make a online donation. 100% of your donation goes toward the purchase of much needed food and is a tax-deductible contribution! Details...

Clothing - Donate your previously worn shoes and clothing (infant to adult sizes) and blankets. It's a tax-deductible contribution! Clothing donations are accepted every Sunday between 10:30am - 2:30pm at our Hollywood feeding location, 1625 N. Schrader Blvd.

Volunteer - Help distribute the pre-packaged food and clothing on Sundays at 3:15 P.M. in Hollywood. Details...

(07/04) Our Work for Food program continues to grow as many of our graduates have full time jobs in our community. Our weekly awards ceremony continues to highlight our Sunday servings. We have many volunteer opportunities available in Hollywood for Sunday July 13th. We require a $15 donation in advance for volunteer registration for each of our Sunday servings. Please use our registration form on the left side of our home page.

We are always in need of blankets and sleeping bags for the homeless that sleep outside each night. Thank you for your support!

Work for Food

We are so proud of Deborah S. who is now working full-time at Food 4 Less in Hollywood as a cashier. On Sunday June 29th she graduated our program and is now completely self-sufficient off all government assistance.

Happy 111th Birthday

Ronnie Fairbanks celebrated his 111th Birthday at our Hollywood serving on Sunday May 25th. Ronnie was born on 5/27/1897 and appears to be the oldest man in California.

Sponsor a Hollywood Serving

Would you like to bring a group of your workers, friends, etc. to a Sunday Hollywood serving? We often have groups of 20-30 volunteers that wish to volunteer for a specific date. A donation of $2000 covers all of the costs of food and food coupons for our work for food crew. This donation will allow your group to participate in every part of our Sunday activities and your group will be the ONLY volunteers for that day.
