logoFood on Foot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax-ID#31-1581053) dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.

Food on Foot operates a weekly meal program every Sunday in Hollywood. Food on Foot began in March 1996 as one man's response to the hunger he witnessed among the poor and homeless of Hollywood. What initially began as the distribution of meals from the trunk of a car has grown through the dedication of its volunteers and now serves more than 250 meals each week to homeless, disabled, elderly and low-income adults and children. more about us >

Food on Foot is a chance to be a part of a unique project that allows me to give back to those less fortunate in my community. I believe that an essential part of living in a community is giving back to and helping others who are in need, and Food on Foot has definitely given me a resource for doing so! Food on Foot is also truly inspiring with how firmly they believe in giving every person a second chance, and working with them to do so every step of the way.

I like hearing the success stories of people who have successfully been through the work program and are now living a safe and healthy lifestyle thanks to Food on Foot. It seems that Food on Foot works in every area needed for a successful transition into the work environment, building confidence in the people they work with, teaching them responsibility and to become self-sufficient. It makes me feel very proud to be part of an organization that really helps people reshape their lives from the ground up.

When I was at the Christmas serving there was a family with young children in the line. When they reached the end and had been served their food, their little girl was so grateful that she reached forward and gave me a hug. The experience really taught me to be more thankful for the little things in life, and it felt really amazing to be able to make someone so happy with such a small gesture.

We need volunteers in February

02/03 - We have many volunteer opportunities available in February.

We have a very unique model where the homeless collect trash to earn their food each week. Many have graduated our program and now have full time jobs that enable them to pay for their housing and leave all government assistance. We have helped turn tax burdens into tax payers for the last 15 years.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!

Congratulations to another graduate of our Work for Food program

Lee D. has a full time job at the Tender Greens Restaurant in Santa Monica. He has his own apartment in Hollywood and is completely self-supporting and off all government assistance. He joins the growing list of WFF graduates now giving back to their community, and we invite you to meet him at an upcoming Sunday serving. We are so proud of our Work for Food program that turns tax burdens into tax payers.

A Big thank you to T.Baker and W. Shadow for producing the following three minute video.

Work for Food

Each Sunday afternoon 40-50 homeless and poor individuals participate in our trash clean up program. This is the first step in their attempt to increase confidence and ultimately obtain a full time job and housing. We are proud that so many have graduated our program and are now completely self-supporting and off all government assistance.
