Volunteers of the Week - Kim Decker - Christmas Day sponsor

Food on Foot means taking a break from my life to pay attention to the daily struggles of others. It means making an effort to help others find the ability to live the life they deserve. When you become involved and you talk to the people on the street and you see the way they are surviving, it becomes real and you want to stay involved. This is a real problem that isn't going away. Homelessness and poverty is epic and its right in our backyard. Food on Foot does not walk away from the problem. They get in there and motivate people to take charge of their situation and give them direction and strength and most importantly.. HOPE. I like The commitment from the people involved every day is an inspiration and a very positive message. I was truly touched by the genuine gratefulness of the people I met in the line. There was no expectation at all. Just a true thankfulness and appreciation. -Kim

Work for Food

Each Sunday afternoon 40-50 homeless and poor individuals participate in our trash clean up program. This is the first step in their attempt to increase confidence and ultimately obtain a full time job and housing. We are proud that so many have graduated our program and are now completely self-supporting and off all government assistance.
Previous Work for Food Success Stories:

Paul D.

Deborah S.

Danny G.

We need volunteers in February

02/03 - We have many volunteer opportunities available in February. We have a very unique model where the homeless collect trash to earn their food each week. Many have graduated our program and now have full time jobs that enable them to pay for their housing and leave all government assistance. We have helped turn tax burdens into tax payers for the last 15 years. Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year! Read More: Fox News: Could L.A.'s Jay Goldinger Hold the Key to Defeating Homelessness? The February edition of our bi-monthly Footnotes newsletter [pdf] is now available!
