Volunteers of the Week - Kimberly Larkins - $84 Club Member

I am impressed with Food on Foot and I appreciate the opportunity to support their important work. To hear the stories of those in the program and the program graduates is inspiring. I particularly like how the program offers an opportunity for individuals to be rewarded for hard work as well as for their consistency. Over time the program helps individuals restore their confidence and assimilate into society. It is one thing to hear that there are 60,000 homeless in LA, it is another to look into their eyes and receive their smiles. In this city of so much it’s hard to imagine that some have so little. It reminds me to look inside and see the many blessings I have and that nothing should be taken for granted.-Kim

Work for Food

Each Sunday afternoon 40-50 homeless and poor individuals participate in our trash clean up program. This is the first step in their attempt to increase confidence and ultimately obtain a full time job and housing. We are proud that so many have graduated our program and are now completely self-supporting and off all government assistance.Previous Work for Food Success Stories:Paul D.Deborah S.Danny G.

Sunday, February 7, will be a day Kim P. will remember forever as she was presented with her certificate of graduation from our Work for Food program. Kim has full time employment at Amoeba Music in Hollywood and is completely self sufficient. She is in her own apartment after being part of the homeless population for many years. We are so proud of her, and look forward to many more graduates entering the workforce and leaving all government assistance.

We Need Volunteers

03/10 - We have many volunteer opportunities available in March. Pick a Sunday that is convenient and spend 90 minutes with us participating in our food serving and work for food award ceremony. We have a very unique model where the homeless collect trash to earn their food each week. Many have graduated our program and now have full time jobs that enable them to pay for their housing and leave all government assistance.
