  • What will I be doing as a volunteer?
    Check-in begins promptly at 3:15pm. Volunteers will gather in a circle to hear about the programs and will break to separate donated clothing. Once complete, volunteers gather into a circle again to hear speeches by some of our graduates. Around 4pm, the Executive Director assigns food stations and the serving begins. At the end, there is a wonderful ceremony where are our workers are rewarded for their day’s work cleaning the streets of Hollywood from trash and debris. The serving ends no later than 4:45pm.
  • Can I bring someone with me?
    Absolutely, but they must also register online or you can add them as your guest(s) when you register for the serving. It’s a $20 donation per person.
  • Where is the Sunday serving held?
    The serving is held outdoors in the private parking lot of the LGBT Center at 1625 N. Schrader Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028. Parking is free.
  • How long does it last?
    Volunteers are required to arrive at 3:15pm and the serving lasts approximately 90 minutes.
  • How should I dress?
    Dress casual for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and apply sunscreen as you’ll be outside on your feet the entire time.
  • What should I bring?
    Sunscreen and a smile! And we sell Food on Foot hats if you forget yours.
  • What if I have to cancel?
    Please call (310) 442-0088 and leave a message as soon as possible so we’re able to fill your spot. Sorry, no refunds.
  • How old do you have to be to volunteer?
    Adults 18 and older are always welcome. Children up to age 17 must be accompanied by an adult, although not recommended for children under 5 years old.
  • Do I have to make a $20 donation every time I volunteer?
    Yes. Volunteering requires a $20 per person donation, including children. Your gift will go towards funding for the food and gift cards you will help distribute on Sunday afternoon. Or, do like over 420 volunteers do and join our $98 Club! Once a member, you never have to register online, just show up any Sunday (some exceptions) at 3:15pm and bring a different friend each time for FREE!
  • How many other volunteers will be there?
    Approximately 15 plus our $98 Club members who attend for free.
  • If I join the $98 Club, do I still have to make a $20 donation each time I want to volunteer?
    No. With your $98 Club membership, you don’t have to go online to register or make a $20 donation. Just show up any Sunday (some exceptions) at 3:15pm and bring a different friend each time for FREE! Signup here!
  • How do I sign up to volunteer?
    You must register online to volunteer and a $20 credit card donation per person is required during the registration process for regular Sunday servings. Your $20 donation is used to purchase the food gift cards that are given to our workers during the Awards Ceremony at the end of the serving. Our Christmas and Thanksgiving servings require a $100 minimum donation as we provide a sleeping bag and bus tokens to each of our clients.
