Everyone needs a F.R.I.E.N.D.

F.R.I.E.N.D. is a new volunteer opportunity where Food on Foot supporters like YOU can work one-on-one with our Jobs & Housing members as they navigate their journey to full-time employment and stable housing.
F.R.I.E.N.D. volunteers act as Assistant Resource Coaches and help with tasks such as gentle financial advice, reasonable employment support, celebrating someone getting a home, and other support only a F.R.I.E.N.D. can provide

Spotlight on Chris Cusano:
Championing Compassion as a FRIEND

“As a FRIEND mentor. I help provide savings and budgeting guidance through goal setting and discipline. It’s extremely valuable to offer support and show up for anyone that asks for help. Sometimes it comes down to just having someone that believes in you and wants nothing more than for you to succeed.”

“Facing adversities alone is daunting; we thrive on companionship during tough times. This comradery is what the F.R.I.E.N.D. program is about and why it’s so important to me. In Los Angeles, with millions of residents, if a small percentage of friends contributed to bridge homelessness to housing, we could eventually eradicate the crisis while supporting a successful community.”
